Context & Brand Background

C.P. Company is an iconic Italian apparel brand founded in 1971 by Bolognese designer Massimo Osti. Universally recognized as the pioneer of sportswear and contemporary technical wear, the brand stands out for its continuous textile research and the seamless fusion of functional design (inspired by military and workwear aesthetics) with urban subcultures.
In the late 1970s, the Casual subculture emerged on the terraces of British football stadiums, characterized by the adoption of Italian luxury brands discovered by supporters during European away matches. Among these, C.P. Company’s iconic garments—such as the Goggle Jacket—became absolute symbols of the movement. Between the late 1990s and early 2000s, the jacket solidified its status as a cultural hallmark, expanding its influence far beyond the UK. This heritage extends to cities like Marseille, as documented in Enrico Rassu’s reportage ‘Marsiglia, Safe and Sound’ (2022). Today, C.P. Company garments represent a global symbol of identity and belonging, connecting communities from the North of England to Southeast Asia.

Objective

The C.P. Company community gathered during Paris Fashion Week to discover the Spring/Summer 2027 collection through the third chapter of the “Behind the Seams” project. Conceived as a multi-layered installation, the project merges visual and spatial narratives to reveal the creative process behind the SS027 collection through the perspectives of its community.
The installation's accordion-like design takes inspiration from the so-called “Fisarmoniche” (accordion notebooks)—modular workbooks that were essential tools for Massimo Osti. These served as his personal cataloging system for fabric swatches, technical sheets, and material treatment samples, forming a comprehensive atlas of the brand’s textile research. The creative concept was developed by designer Jordi Van Der Oord.
