Originally created in 1948 to take <\/span>Oedipus Rex<\/span><\/i> on tour around the world, the project has been brought back to life through an exhibition conceived by the <\/span>Civic Museums of Vicenza<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The installation reproduces almost at a 1:1 scale the stage set of the Seven Streets of Thebes<\/strong> designed by Scamozzi. Measuring approximately 8 metres in height and 16 metres in length, it is a monumental structure that can only be reconstructed within an architectural space as significant as the Basilica Palladiana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Between 1949 and 1955, the Olimpichetto<\/strong> toured major international cultural capitals, including London, Paris, Berlin, Munich and Houston. Everywhere it was shown, it left a strong impression: after seeing it in Paris, writer Guido Piovene described it as \u201cmore beautiful than the original\u201d. It presents the results of a 14-month monitoring campaign of Scamozzi\u2019s proscenium, carried out by the Superintendency and IUAV, alongside the screening of the restored short film <\/span>L\u2019Olimpico<\/span><\/i> by Paolo Vajenti, originally awarded at the 1948 Venice Biennale.<\/span><\/p>\n

The architectural project, developed by <\/span>Gabbiani e Associati<\/b>, establishes a careful dialogue with the monumental space of the Basilica, while communication curated by <\/span>Studio Mama<\/b> supports the exhibition narrative and enhances its cultural value.<\/span><\/p>\n
